In fact, Creatine is a popular supplement for body building and is used by most people who are looking to accentuate body mass build up. It is also used by those looking to shed body weight.

Creatine is an amino based compound which is produced naturally in the human body. The body is already capable of producing such proteins internally and the rest can be attained by our diet plans. This is a compound largely found in fish and meat. The protein is produced by the liver, pancreas and kidneys which are then transported to the muscle tissues through the blood stream. The supplement is converted into phosphocreatine molecules which stores energy in the muscle tissues. This allows the body to release more energy when exerted.

Like any other supplement Creatine too comprises of certain side effects. It has been stated that those who consume the supplement are more susceptible to muscle spasms, cramps and even wear and tear of the muscle tissues. However, recently a report generated over a three year study discovered that Creatine had no side effects on an incidence of cramping in a group of football players. These tests were conducted on 26 athletes taking Creatine for nearly four years and those who are not athletes.

Some questions however remain since not all clinical studies recommend the usage of the supplement for everyone. Side Effects of Creatine include diarrhea, muscle cramping, dehydration and nausea. Those who are susceptible to kidney problems are mostly advised not to use the supplement since the kidneys in such cases cannot filter out the byproduct Creatine which is the metabolic break down of the composition. Other Creatine Side Effects include muscle or tendon damage, gastrointestinal disorders and dehydration.
